Blackberry Storm
The first Touchscreen Blackberry
A lot of buzz has been flying around with the release of the
Blackberry Storm on the Verizon network. The first Touchscreen
Blackberry. This is a huge step for Blackberry to get it's foot
in the door in the consumer market of smartphones.
The traditional Blackberry is focused on the business world
for a variety of reasons. One of which is its Qwerty keyboard.
I've spoken with many business people who have said that they
would never use the Iphone, simply because of the touchscreen
keyboard.
Blackberry is aiming on capitalizing on the positives and
negatives of the Iphone. The keyboard of the Storm has a
tactile feature that actually clicks when you press on a key.
This is said to be the major advantage of the Storm over the
Iphone. As you may know, many will swear by the Iphone and
would never consider a Blackberry as a substitute. What many in
the busines world have done is purchase a Blackberry for
business and an Iphone for play. Blackberry is hoping to bridge
the gap by producing a smartphone that not only offers the
benefits of a Qwerty keyboard, but the tactile nature of it as
well for increased accuracy and ease of messaging. Throw in the
real-time messaging feature that is Blackberry and Apple might
just have something to worry about. We will see how this plays
out.
